Try to replace sugary snacks with fresh fruit or vegetables, wholegrain foods (such as a piece of toast or a sandwich on wholemeal bread), cheese cubes and yoghurts. Calcium is essential for the growth of strong nails, bones and teeth so try to ensure your child gets plenty of calcium; foods rich in calcium include cheese, milk and yoghurts.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Giving children sugary foods on a regular basis can be more detrimental than giving them a large amount of sugar in one dose, as the enamel will be weakened for a prolonged period of time. Try to restrict sugar to mealtimes and avoid sugary foods or drinks before bed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
